A woman who attended a beauty salons in Miami and Florida died of a suspected poisoning, authorities said on Tuesday.
An autopsy on the woman’s body was completed on Tuesday and it was ruled a homicide, Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner Maria Cristina Perez said in a statement.
Her name was not released.
The autopsy was carried out by the Miami-dade Medical Examiner’s Office, which is in charge of conducting such cases.
Perez said that the woman, identified only as Z, was at a beauty clinic in the Coral Gables neighborhood on Sunday when the suspected poisoning occurred.
She had been at a salon with other people that night, she said, and the man who allegedly left the scene was arrested.
Police said the woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but she later died.
Her death is being treated as a homicide.
Pence called for vigilance as people go about their daily lives and said there is “no doubt” that the Broward County Sheriff’s Office was the first to notice the woman had been poisoned.
The Broward Sheriff’s Department said it will be conducting a thorough investigation.
It will be in the best interest of all parties involved, the department said in an email to The Associated Press.
