    There are so many problems with the way we spend money, the way our clothes are made and the way brands sell products, that the beauty trade is losing ground, says beauty salons owner, Maggie Simpson.

    The beauty business has suffered from an epidemic of over-exposure, she says.

    When you spend $60 on a new lipstick or a $70 eyeliner, it’s like the beauty business is dying.

    So what’s going to save us?

    Maggies has her sights set on creating a sustainable industry and, in the process, creating a more ethical one.

    She is trying to bring more products to market and offer them to consumers with more ethical practices.

    “If we can make the beauty products we make better for people and for the environment, we’ll be a better business,” she says, pointing to her beauty salon, which is based in Melbourne and has more than 3,000 employees.

    Simpson has her eye on a big prize: $5 billion in new funding.

    But for all the attention the beauty market is receiving, it is not a business that can survive on its own, Simpson says.

    “It’s really hard to raise a lot of money without some sort of an audience,” she said.

    To do that, she is looking to raise $5 million in a crowdfunding campaign.

    This means Simpson can pay herself and her team a salary of between $150,000 and $250,000 a year.

    It will also allow her to pay for a private jet and luxury hotels.

    That’s not a bad way to fund a beauty salon.

    A lot of people have been inspired by the beauty community to donate to her business and that’s good news, Simpson said.

    “People who want to support us have a good reason, because we’re in a tough position.”

    Simpsons business is now worth $7 million, up from just $4 million in 2012.

    Despite her own struggles, she believes there are things that can be done to help the beauty sector thrive.

    “I think it’s really important that we continue to build a better industry, because if we don’t, we’re going to see this business crumble,” she told the ABC.

    We’re really lucky, but it’s not going to be sustainable.

    I feel like we are in a time where we have the opportunity to make a change.

    “We have a vision of what we want the beauty and beauty salon industry to be.”

    And she has a good idea of what that vision is.
